Parliament to decide on Nato ties: COAS

RAWLAPINDI: Army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani Monday made it clear that Parliament would set the tone of Pakistan’s ties with America and Nato, Geo News reported.

Flanked by Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, he told media at Jacobabad Airbase that Prime Minister had told him that Parliament was deliberating on the next line of action regarding Nato and whatever it decides on it would be the final word.

On operations in tribal belt, Gen Kayani said that army was trying its best to use least brute force in those areas.

Speaking on the occasion, air chief Rao Qamar said that there was nothing installed in the US F-16s that could stop the air force form using those fighter jets against American warplanes.

Air chief also said that Shahbaz Airbase was in total Pakistani control.

Allies repose confidence in PM Gilani

SLAMABAD: A meeting of the allied parties on Monday reposed full confidence in the government led by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and vowed to continue to work for the strength and continuity of the democracy in the country.

The meeting here at the PM House was attended by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain leader of PML-Q, Asfandyar Wali of ANP, Farooq Sattar of MQM, Muneer Aurakzai head of parliamentary group from Fata, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Raja Parvaiz Ashraf MNA.

They discussed the prevailing political situation in the country and agreed to continue to work together to ensure that the nascent democratic system in the country continues to flourish and gain from strength to strength.

We will accept court verdict: Shujaat

SLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that they would accept the decision of the Supreme Court.

Talking to media on arrival at the apex court, Shujaat said, "we will accept the decision of Supreme Court."

Shujaat further said next prime minister would be selected from PPP if needed.

PM defying courts only to save Rs5bn: Imran

HI: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief, Imran Khan Monday said that Prime Minister Youduf Raza Gilani was committing contempt of court only to save Rs5 billion, Geo News reported.

During a media briefing here, he also said that after indictment Gilani was left with no reason whatsoever to continue as prime minister.

“ It’s time Gilani stepped down”, said he.

Vowing to back Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision, he said that whoever assumed the office of prime minister would have to write to Swiss government in the money laundering case.

People’s money in Swiss banks must be returned: Nawaz Sharif

RAIWIND: PML-N president Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that the money in Swiss bank accounts must be returned ‘at all costs.’

Speaking alongside the chairman of the Sindh National Front Mumtaz Bhutto, Nawaz said the people of Pakistan wanted their money to be returned.

I fail to understand why the government is apprehensive about writing the letter,” Nawaz said.

Sharif further said that the government’s actions were against the will of the people and instead of hiding behind the cover of immunity, the nation’s money must be returned.
